Okay so last week we were reading a poem by Srechko Kosovel (1904-1926, some nice stuff) called The exstasy of death. Basically it's about the bloody apocalyptic downfall of Europe. As we're reading and analysing this poem I realise it looks just like a Slayer song, brutality and all.
I mention this to the teacher after the period ends, and she found the fact interesting and said if I wanted I could present a slayer song to the class and get a spiffy mark. I was like "Word???" and she said I could even play the song =D
So naturally I chose Rainign blood, not the most burtal Slayer song, but it does have parellels to the Kosovel poem, and let's face it; it's basic Slayer material =P
So I translated it into Slovenian (not a bad job at all might I add ^_^)
For those of you who can read slovenian here it is:
---
Dezuje kri
(Vladavina v krvi 1986)
Ujeta v vicah,
neziva stvar, ziva.
Cakajoc povrnitev,
smrt bo njihova pridobitev.
Nebo postaja rdece,
vrnitev k moci se bliza.
Padite vame nebesne skrlatne solze,
unicite pravila iz kamna.
Prebodeni od spodaj; du%u0161e moje izdajalske preteklosti.
Izdalo jih je mnogo, zdaj zgoraj kapljajoci okrasi.
Cakajoc uro povrnitve,
cas vam uhaja...
Dezuje kri!
Iz raztrganega neba.
Krvavi svojo grozo,
tvori mojo podobo,
zdaj bom vladala v krvi!

Thing is that during my summer job I had this song in my head many times and I tried to analyse it, I was making some progress, but the click came when I saw the video for the Tori Amos cover, where it shows this scene of bombs being dropped from a plane.
Heureka!
The song is about an incoming war(a lifeless object, alive), who some people will hate and some will love so it's like a neutral thing (trapped in purgatory), this war in inevitable (awaiting reprisal, your time slips away) and it will destroy all the laws of God (the rules made of stone) and what is the rain and sky turning red and the blood and destruction is war; these things create it's structure.
Well yes I presented my analasys with the translation to the class and we listened to the song, and the teacher liked it (she even asked me for teh Reign in blood CD so she could make a copy (some people found it odd, I find it awsome when people have an open mind and try somethign new)) and gave me an A, YAY.
So there you have it Slayer is excellent!!!
PS
I dont' want to hear any anti-slayer crap or their religious or musical stuff being explained in the comments I know all about it. It's not a Slayer entery ;)
"But Mark, why don't you just set it to no comments?"
Because I believe we lla have a right to comment!
Just not something lame, please.
And have a nifty Slayer charicature too :)
